The Agricultural Product Distribution Sustainability Project Enhances the Quality and Efficiency of Agricultural Product Distribution in Nanping Village, Hai'an, Jiangsu – Sustainable Agricultural Production and Planting Technology Training and Turnover
2025-01-02

To actively promote the development of the Agricultural Product Distribution Sustainability Project and comprehensively enhance the systematization and standardization of agricultural product output, as well as advance the application of green technologies in agriculture, the "Sustainable Agricultural Production and Agricultural Planting Technology Training and Results Sharing of Turnover Bins" was successfully held at the Nanping Village Committee in Hai'an, Nantong City, Jiangsu Province, on January 2, 2025.

As part of the EU's "Switch-Asia" sustainable production and consumption promotion project, the Swedish Environmental Research Institute (IVL), the China Chain Store & Franchise Association (CCFA), and the Institute of Agricultural Economics and Development of the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences (IAED) jointly developed and provided agricultural product quality and food safety training courses. The project aims to drive the green transformation of the agricultural product supply chain. By implementing the project, the goal is to optimize the use of agricultural chemicals in crop production, promote the standardized production and quality management of fresh agricultural products like fruits and vegetables, reduce losses and waste during transportation, improve logistics efficiency, and enhance food safety and product quality.

During the training, experts and scholars conducted specialized sessions using on-site lectures and educational videos. Over 100 village representatives and farmers from Nanping Village participated. At the training site, Dr. Zhou Hui, Associate Researcher at the Institute of Agricultural Economics and Development, Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences, shared insights on "Sustainable Development in Agricultural Products Industry" via video. Experts from the Swedish Environmental Research Institute also presented research findings on fruit and vegetable turnover bins. The experts discussed topics such as sustainable cultivation of fresh agricultural products, reducing losses in the distribution process, sustainable packaging and transportation, as well as improving circulation efficiency and quality. During the session, participants actively engaged in discussions with experts about practical issues encountered in their planting processes. Staff also guided farmers in using the project's sustainable production app to complete exercises and obtain electronic certificates. Farmers can continue to access additional free courses within the app for further learning.

The training session invited the village head, village representatives, and farmers from Nanping Village. Over twenty collective representatives and more than eighty farmers participated. A total of 24 "Level 2 Trainer" electronic certificates and 79 farmer training certificates were issued.
