Professor Yelto Zimmer, Associate Professor Zeng Yangmei from Hubei University of Technology, Senior Environmental Expert Dr. Zhao Xuchen from the Swedish Environmental Research Institute, and Ms. Shao Danqing from Peking University’s Macro and Green Finance Laboratory each delivered reports on topics including Germany’s agricultural greenhouse gas reduction policies, carbon market development in China’s agricultural sector, the environmental impact of secondary food packaging, and the role of green finance in supporting the transformation of food systems. Young scholars in attendance engaged in in-depth discussions with the experts on issues such as agricultural greenhouse gas accounting, carbon market mechanisms, and the practices of transition finance. The experts agreed that the advancement of low-carbon agriculture requires a deep integration of technology, policies, and international cooperation. This seminar provided important insights into the low-carbon transformation of agriculture, particularly in areas like the development of agricultural carbon trading systems, green finance support, and agricultural technological innovation.
The seminar was supported by the EU's "Switch-Asia" Sustainable Agricultural Supply Chain Development Project and was hosted by Associate Researcher Zhou Hui from the Institute of Agricultural Economics and Development at the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences. More than 50 representatives from organizations such as the China Chain Store & Franchise Association, Baiguoyuan, and HEYTEA attended the event.
